Symptoms of TMD


TMD disorder inflicts pain on the sufferer due to the misalignment of the jaw joint.

TMD can be a puzzling condition, which is often misdiagnosed. Many of our patients have seen many different Doctors and been given different kinds of pain relievers which only tend to worsen the symptoms. Unfortunately most people don’t even know they have this condition and cannot understand why they have been living with the pain.

Here are some of the symptoms experienced in sufferers of TMJ Syndrome:

  • Pain in the jaw muscles
  • Pain in the jaw joint
  • Locking of the jaw
  • Limited jaw movement
  • Facial, neck, or shoulders pain
  • Painful popping, clicking, or grating sounds in the jaw joint whenever the mouth is being opened or closed
  • A sudden change in the fitting of the upper and lower teeth
  • Constant and dull pain in the face
  • Unexplained headache
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Earache
  • Sudden unexplained tooth wear
  • Inability to fully open the mouth
  • Tooth grinding
  • Tingling in the fingers or arms
